TruChoice in the Community
At TruChoice, helping others is built into our DNA. From our early days as Maine Medical Services FCU to today, we have always served those who serve others. Giving back to the community is second nature to us here at TruChoice. Whether that’s spending time helping build financial wellness for our neighbors, giving to local organizations working to make our communities stronger, helping students further their education, volunteering, or enabling members to pay it forward, we’re passionate about helping in our community.
How TruChoice gives back:
TruHero
Our TruHero program allows our members to donate to both The MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and The McAuley Residence. Every time a member swipes their TruHero credit card, TruChoice donates a portion of the interchange fee to the members chosen charity. Since we began this groundbreaking program, we’ve donated over $109,000 to those important organizations. Visit our TruHero page if you’re interested in learning more or joining the movement.
TruGiving: Employee Giving Fund
Throughout the year, members of the TruCrew donate to our TruGiving Employee Giving Fund. At the end of the year, during our Season of Giving, employees vote on where those funds are donated. Here’s some of the great organizations’ employees have donated to over the last few years:
In partnership with Project Grace, employees also band together to fill wishes from a giving tree each December to help insure local families have gifts under the tree each Christmas.
Scholarships
TruChoice is proud to help graduating seniors further their education! Each year, we offer four $1000 scholarships to graduates in our local community. In addition to these scholarships, in 2025 we also made a donation of $3000 to the Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation, to help support those entering the trades. 70th Anniversary Community Giving
2025 is our 70th Anniversary, and we’re so grateful to our members for helping us reach this amazing milestone. To say Thank You, we’re giving back to our community with a $700 donation to a local organization each month.
